Once upon a time (in 1995) there was a new Mom that bought a scrapbook kit thinking it would be fun to make the pages up for the baby. Within a year, she was meeting twice a month with her friends and sharing supplies. Within 4 years, she was planning 4-5 weekend retreats a year with anywhere from 3-10 friends attending. None of those retreats were at places that had scrapbook stores.
Hence an idea was born. This captive crowd wanted and needed to buy supplies while they were out in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. Ok, maybe it was the resort towns on the ocean, but that’s not as cool of a storyline, and there still weren’t any scrapbook stores there. By this time she was completely addicted to the internet as well. Since she had already started stocking supplies it was an easy transition to building a site and selling year around.
Being a busy store owner has made me appreciate the time I do have to scrapbook. I use kits myself so I can run away to a crop at the last minute when life falls into place and allows it. After 11 years of scrapbooking I’m happy to say that I’m still addicted. If you aren’t addicted yet, I hope I can help change that!
