Hi Scrappers!
My name is Val Selby and I’ve been scrapbooking since the dawn of time. lol Seriously, I remember being at a regular old craft store in the tiny scrapbook section here in the Pacific Northwest, buying some stuff. This lady from Utah was talking to the staff and of course being the nosy girl i am, I heard her talk about the incredible selection and stores they had down there. I thought yeah right, doesn’t everyone talk like that about their place? lol
This was in Spring of 1995 and scrapbooking was already huge as we know it in Utah. Thankfully we are a very crafty area and it didn’t take long for the incredible stores to hit our market. By the time my second was born in 1998 I was totally engrossed in scrapbooking. By this time I had also gotten my friends addicted. lol Cause what else are friends for?
So my friends and I were meeting a couple of times a month at my parents cafe and getting away from our babies and little one’s for a few hours. It was perfect and our own little getaway that was actually productive. By the time our kids were getting close to school age we’d decided we needed a retreat. One friend had a timeshare and I talked hubby into letting me head out for the weekend with NO FAMILY! WOW, that was such a breath of fresh air. I came back a better wife and a better mom.
This brought around the TRUE SCRAPBOOKING ADDICTION! On these trips we would run out of supplies. We were in little towns and there weren’t places to go hit for fancy embellishments let alone when we ran out of glue or that perfect yellow paper. AHHH, I had my biz license and started buying in bulk to they could buy from me. For about 5 years I had my traveling scrapbook store and eventually brought that to being an online store as well.
A few years ago I went back to school to pursue my passion in fitness and there was just no time to keep up the store. Keeping up with orders is one thing, that’s actually the easy part, but researching the latest and greatest supplies and then getting the orders in was a whole other thing now with this new career. I had to let the store go. It was not easy as this was my first true business passion. But it was the right thing to do. I’m obviously still passionate about my scrapbooking and I truly love to hear people ohh and ahh over my pages. But now I’m so into helping people that it’s bled over to my scrapbooking as well.
Enjoy all of the information that scrap facts is here to bring you. If you ever have questions I’d love to hear them. I will be using them to build the long list of free scrapbooks sent to your email every week! val @ busymomma.com Just fill in the gaps to send me an email.
Happy Scrappin!
Val Selby
